For our June 5–7, 2026 Branson-area weekend, we based at Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar — the Preview Center in Ridgedale. From Kevin and Kelli: here’s how the stay felt as a quieter Ozarks home base.
The room
We had a king bed with a kitchen and living room — nice. It was the kind of setup that makes a rainy weekend easier: space to spread out, a kitchen when you want it, and a living room that feels like more than a place to drop bags.
Amenities — shuttles, pool & Fun Mountain
The resort felt nice, and the shuttles were a real advantage. They took us everywhere we needed to go, which mattered on a rainy weekend when we spent a lot of time on-property instead of chasing a packed off-site itinerary.
We got pool time in when we could, and Fun Mountain at Big Cedar Lodge became part of that on-resort stretch. It is a strong fit for couples and families alike — go-karts, mini golf, an arcade, bowling, and plenty more for kids and grown-ups. When the weather kept us close, having shuttles and that much on-property activity without a long drive kept the trip moving.
Dining — Buzzard Bar
Our first night we went to Buzzard Bar for dinner and a band. Both were really good — an easy, fun landing after the drive-in day, without needing to hunt for a reservation across town.
Location vs Branson
Ridgedale and the Big Cedar area gave us a quieter Ozarks base than parking ourselves on the Branson strip. We still got into downtown Branson for shopping and breakfast, and Top of the Rock, Buffalo Ridge, and Payne’s Valley were in the same orbit as the stay. The tradeoff is clear: more scenery and resort ease, less walk-to-shows energy every night — and that fit what we wanted this weekend.
Who it’s for
Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar works for couples and families. Fun Mountain alone covers a ton — go-karts, mini golf, arcade, bowling, and more for children and adults — and the quieter Ridgedale base still leans nature-forward with trails and overlooks nearby. Add shuttles when it rains, a comfortable king-with-kitchen room, and Buzzard Bar for an easy night in, and you have a stay that flexes for a couples weekend or a family trip. If your whole plan is walk-to-shows strip energy every night, this isn’t that. If you want Ridgedale calm with Branson still reachable, it’s a strong fit.
